Guwahati - Dimapur maiden ride
Do people take instant decisions?
However, after long reflection, the cost of Leoncino 500 forced me to give second thoughts and I finally went to the Imperial way…
Are the decisions of human beings defining the personality? - These are more philosophical and psychological questions.
My decision to buy Imperiale 400 was neither instant nor well-decided one.
In 2018, I was craving for a motorcycle after selling my Classic 350 in 2016. I had an eye on the Thunderbird 500x. But the thought of vibrations and the negatives of Royal Enfield came before my eyes. Added to that, the showroom I contacted in Nagaland was not very persuasive or friendly.
As days passed by, I was fooled by some websites that prophesied that Bajaj Avenger 400 is coming soon, coming soon. I wonder, Bajaj Company may not have thought about it even.
In 2019, the arrival of Italian Benelli cheered my spirits. Although I was aiming at 500cc motorcycle, Benelli Imperiale impressed me. I booked the vehicle in November 2019 and told the showroom that I will take the vehicle in February 2020. In December I wanted to go to the showroom in Guwahati but was not able due to CAB agitation. In January 2020, I went to the showroom and saw Leoncino 500 and my love for Imperiale went off.
The vehicle was bought on 19 February and registered on 20 February.
My first ride was 270 Kms. The showroom advised me to drive below the RPM level of 3000 and the highest speed would be 60 kmph. It was a pleasure to drive the new vehicle for more hours on the first day.
The first 200 km, Guwahati to Hawraghat Tinali and beyond in 3 ½ hours. I was thinking, if I could drive in 100 to 120 kmph, it would have a memorable experience. Even my 60 kmph speed was a good experience to see the paddy fields of Brahmaputra valley, the teak forests, beautiful countryside of Assam.
The remaining 70 km became a real pain. It took me another 3 hours to cross 70 km. I was not happy to drive my new bike in the road-less roads of Assam to reach Dimapur.
Overall, it was a challenging experience.. my decision to buy Imperiale 400 as well as my maiden ride.
